If you are also one of so many people who are wondering what all this fuss is about whether you should be using Sea Salt or Table Salt, then do yourself a favour and just keep on reading!
Every day we get bombarded about all the bad and unhealthy facts of why processed food is so bad for our health and that it is loaded with way too much salt, and therefore sodium. Too much sodium may affect your blood pressure and health, no matter which way you get it into your body.

The difference between Sea Salt and Table Salt
Processing, taste and texture are the main differences between table salt and sea salt, according to Katherine Zeratsky, R.D., L.D. (Mayoclinic.com, 2016).
Furthermore, Me. Zeratsky states that table salt is mined from the underground salt deposits, then it goes through a severe process to eliminate minerals, and to prevent it from clumping, and additive also is being added to the processed table salt. And if that is not enough, table salt also contains added iodine. Iodine is a crucial nutrient which helps maintain a healthy thyroid.

Sea Salt on the other hand, is the product of the evaporation of water from saltwater lakes, or sea water, and there is usually very little processing involved. Usually, depending on the water source, the sea salt is left behind with certain traces of minerals and elements. These minerals add the colour and flavour to sea salt and it also comes in lot of different coarseness levels. (K. Zeratsky, R.D., L.D.; Mayoclinic.com, 2016).

Health benefits of Sea Salt
Seeing sea salt is a natural source of several minerals, including potassium, zinc and iron. With that in mind, the type of minerals found in sea salt usually depends on where the sea salt originates from. Due to the minerals in sea salt that effect the taste of if, as well as the coarser granule of it, one therefore only needs to use a tiny bit of sea salt to flavour food. (Jill Corleone, RDN, LD; healthyeating.sfgate.com, 2018).
